Other people’s photographs, stuff that happened in the past. It’s a never ending cast of memories and epitaphs. Minor league celebrities, your wedding anniversary, what you had last night for tea. It really doesn’t interest me. Kill me now, I’ve seen it all before. Just kill me now, I can’t take anymore. Other people’s photographs, it’s a never ending cast. Everything is in the past. We seemed to get here way too fast. Look at this one it’s a peach, that’s me last year on Bondi beach, and here’s my dog, I call him Dave. I’m heading for an early grave. Kill me now, I’ve seen them all before. Just kill me now, I can’t take it anymore. Kill me now, I’m worried for my health. Kill me now, keep your photos to yourself.

I’ve got everything a man could want but I need so much more, by carving off a thicker slice than anyone before. When lining my own pockets there is no one who is keener, I’m a bigger better richer, super fiscal vacuum cleaner. Even though I know I’m wrong I’ll tell you that I’m right, I’m just a friendly psychopath cavorting in plain sight. I have the best solutions to the problems I create, by stirring up a toxic brew of jealousy and hate. Save yourself. Save yourself from me. The only people I admire are me myself and I. I can’t be arsed to cross the T’s so all I do is lie. A wave of popularity gave me an easy ride. A self deluded King Cnut anointed at low tide. Save yourself. Save yourself from me. Our future generations realise they have to pay for the trials and tribulations that my kind put in their way. If you want us gone you’re gonna have to fight us nail and tooth, but don’t expect to find the answers buried in the truth. Save yourself. Save yourself from me.

Trolls 04:18
Your life is like a fairytale, mine is but a curse. It puts a spring back in my heel to make yours somewhat worse. It feels so good when you feel bad, I’m cruel to be unkind. It’s a twisted psycho therapy to exorcise my mind. I get so unholy. I don’t know what comes over me. I follow in your shadow, wishing I was you, but it’s my guilty pleasure to take you down a peg or two. I don’t break bones with sticks and stones, it’s just freedom of expression. Behind a fake identity, I release my inner demon. I get so unholy, without a shred of empathy. I don’t know what comes over me. My alter ego takes the pen whenever I’ve been drinking. You wouldn’t want to be my friend, if you knew what I was thinking. I don’t know when my heart gave in to petty jealousy. Busted by your private eye, now you’ve seen the real me. We’re splashed across the tabloids, for you a starring role. And I’m well and truly hated by the trolls who troll the troll. I get so unholy, without a soul for company. A bona fide phoney, I don’t know what comes over me.

Death to mortality! the boffins decried, everyone will be happy when nobody dies. Death to mortality, men playing god, put morticians and grave diggers out of a job. Death to mortality, blow up the bridges, we’ll stop making babies to save our resources. Death to mortality, won’t it be fun to just keep growing older ‘til no one is young? Death to mortality, it’s great to be alive, but we’re dying of boredom and dreaming about suicide. Death to mortality, we’ve answered our quest, there’s no meaning in life with the absence of death. Death to mortality, men playing god, putting the grim reaper out of a job. Death to mortality, that look in your eyes, where hope springs eternal and love never dies.

BOGOF 03:18
The more you spend the more you save, this offer ends tomorrow. Maximise your credit cards, bonus points will follow. Did you think we wouldn’t notice or believe our bloodshot eyes? What used to be affordable is twice the price and half the size. Buy one get one free! You’ve stopped opening your letters, ‘cos the bills are stacking up. You wish you were appealing to the whims of Lady Luck. There’s nothing to rub together and you wonder where you went wrong. There’s an obvious conclusion, it’s a global economic con. But one get one free! Two for you but none for me!! Round and round and round and round and round we go... Round and round and round keep going with the flow... There’s money in the boardrooms for crony VIPs. There’s money for those with money, but there’s none for you and me. They’ve sold off all our assets, they’ve done us up a stitch. There’s super sonic profits for the super duper rich. But one get one free! Two for you but none for me!!

When I look into your eyes I notice sympathy, even though I realize you’ve got it in for me. You look so angelic dressed from head to toe in white, darling won’t you let me sleep tonight? It’s obvious I’m not your first and there’ll be many more, your passion is insatiable until you find a cure. A tremor in your soothing voice but steady with the knife, darling won’t you let me sleep tonight? When I’m in your gentle hands you make the wrong seem right, darling won’t you let me sleep tonight? And when you’re finished with me just for once turn out the light, darling won’t you let me sleep tonight?

That red hat boy will be here soon, whose eyes pursue you ‘round the room. Drawn from a hopeful, restless heart, still life imitating art. An abstract form, a composite, attracted to the opposite. In catching the beholder’s eye, you can love someone and not know why. Laugh or else you cry... Give up before you try... Take the easy path... Run an early bath. He’s on the hook, he’s in the frame, nothing to lose but all to gain. Just for one moment of acceptance without contrition and repentance. He won’t grow up to be a man with detailed thoughts and complex plans. He doesn’t need more than an inkling, vague ideas and funny feelings. Laugh until you cry... The truth becomes a lie... Take the easy path... Always finish last... Give yourself a break... You’re neither early nor too late... Turn the other cheek... Think before you speak... Give up before you try... Laugh or else you cry... Draw an early bath... The future is the past. The boy with the red hat has gone for now but he’ll be back. He’s not for sale, he can’t be bought, he’s not as foolish as you thought. He’s lost the plot, he’s lost in space, he’s opted out, fell on his face. Without a critic’s recognition, he’s just an artistic impression.

about

Jim Pearson UK

"You never can be sure what kind of project Jim will come up with next, but you can always be sure it's gonna be pretty darn good." Tom Robinson BBC 6 Music.

Jim's songs range from the whimsical to some of the most bitter and somber themes, yet always with a paradoxical childlike spirit that meets them head-on – wide-eyed and full of hopeful energy.
