about

I started writing this song before Covid reached our shores. I was smarting over a deflating general election defeat. I simply could not understand how after a short period of desperate hope (personally speaking), we had ended up where we are. It seems to me that we (the people) had knowingly accepted lies and deceit and three word slogans without even caring for the consequences. It’s Come To This covers the perfidious early governmental response to the pandemic, and is a reckoning as the real face of Brexit draws excruciatingly close.

All Bandcamp sales go direct to Autism Together.

lyrics

I’m sorry that it’s come to this, spare me the details I got the gist
You’re hands were tied or so you say, saving for a rainy day

I’m sorry that it’s come to this, I bet you miss your life of bliss
The birthright flowing through your blood, can’t save you from an act of god

Shake your magic money tree
Dishonesty is currency
The fallen leaves that we believed
There's always something up your sleeve

Shake your magic money tree
Dishonesty is currency
The fallen leaves that we believed
Is it a cure or a disease?

I’m sorry that it’s come to this, we’re running out of the loaves and fish
You handed us a loaded gun, spun the barrel, got it done

I’m sorry that it’s come to this, slap the bracelets on his wrists
We hate the person you became the public need someone to blame

Shake your magic money tree
Dishonesty is currency
The fallen leaves that we believed
There's always something up your sleeve

Shake your magic money tree
Dishonesty is currency
The fallen leaves that we believed
Is it a cure or a disease?

about

Jim Pearson UK

"You never can be sure what kind of project Jim will come up with next, but you can always be sure it's gonna be pretty darn good." Tom Robinson BBC 6 Music.

Jim's songs range from the whimsical to some of the most bitter and somber themes, yet always with a paradoxical childlike spirit that meets them head-on – wide-eyed and full of hopeful energy.
